Forest Hospital provides treatment and care to support individuals with a variety of neurological mental health conditions including Dementia, Acquired Brain Injury and Huntington’s disease. The Hospital has its own minibus and there are shops, swimming pool, libraries, cinemas, theatres and parks all close by. There is a small community café on site, for patients, their families and friends to utilise and encourage informal contact between these groups, staff and also local community groups.
Our neuropsychiatry specialist staff deliver individualised programs of care to adults with acquired or progressive neurological conditions, parallel to their co-morbid physical needs and mental health disorders in order to facilitate discharge to an appropriate and less restrictive environment.
We encourage the use of positive behaviour support strategies to decrease the likelihood of behavior’s which may challenge and to provide opportunities to engage patients in positive engagement and discussions.
The Hospital shares its site with Forest Care Home, which is a nursing home for people with complex behavior’s which may be considered challenging. Where appropriate Forest Care Home provides a step down care pathway from the Hospital environment.
